The Mosesian Center for the Arts in partnership with the Surface Design Association present a winter regional exhibition titled Threaded: Contemporary Fiber in New England. This exhibition combines artwork from Surface Design Association members that reside in all 6 New England states (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island) in a narrative that presents a unique perspective on the artistic voices of our region. The dialogue that is created between the works of art in this exhibition speaks to the diversity of fiber arts and surface design in our region and is representative of the explorative nature of artists throughout New England. Artwork in all fiber and surface design mediums as identified by the Surface Design Association’s membership criteria, in both 2D and 3D formats, are presented in this exhibition.
The exhibition was juried by Beth McLaughlin, Chief Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the Fuller Craft Museum.

Opening Reception and Spend the Day with SDA Event
February 15, 2020, 10am-5pm
This day-long event features networking, workshops, and a panel discussion with Threaded: Contemporary Fiber in New England Juror Beth McLaughlin. This event is open to all current members of the Surface Design Association. Non-members are welcome to attend, space permitting. This event is supported in part by SDA whose 2020 grant program is funded by the Lenore G. Tawney Foundation. The day will conclude with an Opening Reception event that will be free and open to the public.

About the Juror: Beth C. McLaughlin is Chief Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts. Ms. McLaughlin has held leadership and curatorial roles in the arts and museum fields for over 25 years at institutions across the U.S., including Fuller Craft Museum, Oakland Museum of California, and DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. She has curated over 45 exhibitions and has served as a juror/adjudicator for a number of cultural organizations, including American Craft Council, Fiber Art Now Excellence in Fibers, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Providence Holiday Art Sale, and the City of Worcester. Ms. McLaughlin has been published in several books and periodicals, such as Crafting Dissent: Handicraft as Protest from the American Revolution to the Pussyhats, Fiber Art Now, the Decorative Arts Society Newsletter, and American Craft Magazine. Ms. McLaughlin is passionate about expanding awareness of the craft field, promoting the makers, and exploring the transformative powers of handmade objects.
