For Young Musicians ages 5-7 and 8-12
Registration Fee: $30 for Workshop (includes 4 PM Concert)
Move, discover, express, respond! Like the musicians and scientists of Multiverse who collaborate to explore science through music, the young musicians in this workshop will explore the wonders of the coral reef through musical improvisation. Students will embody music joyfully, learn about the plants and animals of the coral reef environment, and create their own music as an ensemble, responding to what they learned. The workshop will be led by professional musicians and experienced improvisers, Integral Steps teaching artists and Multiverse performing artists. Integral Steps’ integrative education model of engaging the body, mind, and emotions invites students to listen, respond, and create in a multimodal and interdisciplinary way. Families and friends are invited to attend an informal share at 3:20, where students will share what they learned and perform their reef sounds.
After the workshop, participants will receive a small art activity which they can work on in the lobby during the half-hour break between the workshop and concert. We invite everyone to stay for the concert at 4:00pm!
